Chateau Vieux Ferrand

VARIETAL: 90% Merlot / 10% Cabernet Franc

VINEYARD: The Lycée Viticole is located in Montagne, in the heart of the Libourne vineyards in the Montagne Saint-Emilion and Lalande de Pomerol appellations, 40 km (24 miles) from Bordeaux and 6 km north-east of Libourne.

WINEMAKING: Grown in sandy-silty soil, mechanical harvesting with a truck equipped with an on-board sorter, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Then comes the hot post-fermentation maceration for 2 to 3 weeks. Aging in cement vats. Malolactic fermentation is partly done on French oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES: This wine has a beautiful dark and deep color and reveals a discreetly woody nose, with black berry scents. Well-balanced wine with a beautiful presence on the palate, generosity and pleasantly melted tannins.

FOOD PAIRING: Serve at 16-18°C. This wine will be perfect with grilled red meats, with an apple pudding, a duck breast, or with a selection of cheeses from our regions.
